Audit of Enforcement Actions by FDIC's Chicago Region

(Audit Report No. 98-032, March 23, 1998)

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) has completed an audit of enforcement actions by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC) Chicago Region. The objective of the audit was to evaluate the Division of Supervision's (DOS) and Division of Compliance and Consumer Affairs' (DCA) use, processing, and tracking of enforcement actions.

The Chicago Region's DOS and DCA management officials properly used their authority to issue, modify, terminate, and withdraw enforcement actions. Additionally, DOS and DCA management officials effectively processed and tracked actions in accordance with FDIC directives in effect at the time.

We made no recommendations in this report and, accordingly, required no management response.
