The figure is a line graph that presents the OIG’s Analysis of Reserve Ratios. The vertical axis presents the reserve ratio
percentage points from 1.15 percent to 1.55 percent in .05 percent increments. The horizontal axis presents the period of
analysis from June 2001 through December 2005 in six month increments. The figure includes one horizontal line at the 1.25
vertical axis point the represents the designated reserve ratio and four data point lines: one data point line represents the FDIC
reported BIF reserve ratio, one data point line that represents the OIG recalculation of the BIF reserve ratio using DIR’s simulation
analysis of the new method, one data point line that represents the FDIC reported SAIF reserve ratio, and one data point line that
represents the OIG recalculation of the SAIF reserve ratio using DIR’s simulation analysis of the new method. The results by quarter
for the two BIF data point lines are as follows:
- At January 2001, FDIC reported a reserve ratio of 1.35; OIG recalculated the reserve ratio to be 1.33.
- At March 2001, FDIC reported a reserve ratio of 1.33; OIG recalculated the reserve ratio to be 1.31.
